DESCRIPTION:<p><strong>North American Society for Social Philosophy at the 2027 APA Pacific</strong></p>\n<p><strong>Artificial Intelligence: Is the Love Affair Over\, Never Started\, or Just Beginning?</strong></p>\n<p>Sponsored by the North American Society for Social Philosophy</p>\n<p>March 24-27\, 2027</p>\n<p>Portland\, Oregon</p>\n<p>NASSP plans to host two affiliated group sessions during the APA Pacific Division Meeting on March 24-27\, 2027\, in Portland\, Oregon. The theme for these sessions is Artificial Intelligence: Is the Love Affair Over\, Never Started\, or Just Beginning? This year&rsquo\;s theme invites presentations on the ethics and philosophy of artificial intelligence\, particularly as it relates to AI&rsquo\;s impact on different areas of social interaction.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>Possible topics on this year&rsquo\;s theme include:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Philosophy and ethics of AI and emerging technologies</li>\n<li>AI\, education\, academic integrity\, authorship\, institutional policy\, the purposes of education\, including philosophy education</li>\n<li>AI\, labor\, employment\, including displacement and automation\, deskilling\, surveillance\, task enhancement\, and meaningful work</li>\n<li>The use of AI in healthcare\, mental health\, and caregiving\, including questions of effectiveness\, autonomy\, and professional responsibility</li>\n<li>The use of AI in law enforcement and other public institutions\, algorithms\, bias\, and structural injustice</li>\n<li>AI\, humanity\, agency\, consciousness\, emotions\, and social relationships</li>\n<li>AI security\, privacy\, transparency\, responsibility\, and accountability</li>\n<li>Big tech\, misinformation\, environmental impact\, corporate social responsibility\, and democratic governance</li>\n</ul>\n<p>The Pacific Division Representatives:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Chong Choe-Smith\, California State University Sacramento (choe-smith@csus.edu)</li>\n<li>\n<p>Christopher Innis\, Boise State University (cinnes@boisestate.edu)</p>\n</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Accessibility and Inclusivity</p>\n<p>NASSP is committed to creating an inclusive intellectual community where philosophers from historically marginalized groups feel welcome and are able to participate.
