DESCRIPTION:<p><strong>Keynote speakers:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Walter Redmond</li>\n<li>More TBA</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Call for abstracts:</strong></p>\n<p><strong>Inceptiones et Receptiones&nbsp\;II</strong>&nbsp\;invites submissions of abstracts for presentations on the development\, transmission\, reception\, and transformation of logic and science in the American continent. We welcome historical\, formal\, philosophical\, and interdisciplinary contributions examining both original developments in the Americas and the reception\, adaptation\, and transformation of ideas and traditions originating abroad. Contributions may address any period of our intellectual history. Possible topics include\, but are not limited to:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>The development of logic in the American continent</li>\n<li>The development and reception of scientific traditions in the Americas</li>\n<li>The reception of European and other intellectual traditions in the Americas</li>\n<li>Original contributions to logic\, mathematics\, and science from the Americas</li>\n<li>Education in logic and science in the Americas</li>\n<li>Logic and science in universities\, colleges\, and intellectual institutions</li>\n<li>The history of scientific publishing in the American continent</li>\n<li>Scientific networks connecting the Americas with Europe and other regions</li>\n<li>Philosophy of science and the development of scientific thought in the Americas</li>\n<li>Studies of individual works or authors in logic\, math\, science\, and the philosophy of these disciplines\, e.g.\, <strong>Juan de Espinosa Medrano</strong> and other significant or understudied thinkers</li>\n<li>The emergence of modern and contemporary scientific and logical traditions in the Americas</li>\n<li>Comparative studies of logical and scientific traditions across different regions of the continent</li>\n<li>Indigenous knowledge traditions and their encounters with Western science and logic</li>\n<li>New approaches to the history\, philosophy\, and formal study of logic and science in the American continent</li>\n</ul>\n<p>We particularly welcome contributions that examine the interplay between inception and reception: how ideas were received\, transformed\, contested\, and developed in new intellectual contexts\, as well as how original contributions from the Americas entered wider international traditions.
