DESCRIPTION:<p><strong>NORTH CAROLINA PHILOSOPHICAL SOCIETY</strong></p>\n<p>April 2-3\, 2027</p>\n<p>Eastern Carolina University&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>Keynote Speaker: Sarah Stroud (UNC\, Chapel Hill)</p>\n<p><u><strong>CALL FOR PAPERS</strong></u></p>\n&nbsp\;\n<p><strong>Location:</strong> All sessions will be held on the campus of <strong>East Carolina University</strong> in <strong>Greenville\, NC</strong>. The nearest airport\, which is a regional airport in Greenville itself\, is the Pitt-Greenville Airport (PGV). The Coastal Carolina Regional Airport (EWN) is about 46 miles (about an hour) from Greenville. The nearest international airport is Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU)\, which is about 90 miles (between 1.5-2 hours) from Greenville. Additional information about lodging options near the conference venue will be communicated after acceptance.</p>\n\n<p><a name="_Hlk210903117"><strong>Submissions:</strong></a> Abstracts of approximately <strong>500 words</strong> on any philosophical topic are welcome. All abstracts should be anonymized and should include a title along with <a name="_Hlk210897243">several keywords or categories.</a> The deadline to send submission is <strong><u>February 1\, 2027</u></strong>. Authors of accepted papers will be notified by the end of February.</p>\n\n<p><strong>What to send us:</strong> All submissions should be formatted for blind review&mdash\;please attached anonymized abstracts to the email<a name="_Hlk210909443">&mdash\;and sent to </a><a name="_Hlk241232380"></a>NorthCarolinaPhilosophical@gmail.com</a>. In the body of the email\, please provide your <strong>name</strong>\, <strong>institutional affiliation</strong> (if any)\, <strong>status</strong> (e.g.\, faculty\, graduate student\, undergraduate\, etc.)\, and <strong>contact information</strong>. If you wish your paper to be considered for a prize (see below)\, please note this and indicate whether you are an untenured faculty member\, graduate student\, or undergraduate.</p>\n\n<p><strong>Panels</strong>: Panel proposals on any topic in philosophy\, including its pedagogy\, are welcome. Prospective panel organizers should submit proposals that include a brief\, anonymized overview of the topic\, an explanation of the panel&rsquo\;s format\, anonymized abstracts of approximately 300 words for each of the papers to be presented\, and the names and affiliations of all participants. Each panel must involve a pre-organized set of 2 to 3 papers on a particular theme or topic. Each accepted panel would be allotted 90 minutes in total.</p>\n\n<p><strong>Undergraduate Papers: </strong>A sufficient number of undergraduate submissions will allow for a session devoted to papers by undergraduates. Undergraduates should send <em>both</em> abstracts <em>and</em> papers of approximately 3\,000 words in length. Undergraduate submissions should be clearly labeled as such.</p>\n\n<p><strong>Format:</strong> Accepted papers likely will be allotted 20 minutes for presentation with 10 minutes of Q&amp\;A.</p>\n\n<p><strong>Prizes</strong>: We plan to award a $200 prize for the best paper submitted by an untenured faculty member\, a $150 prize for the best paper submitted by a graduate student\, and a $125 prize for the best undergraduate paper. (Awarding of prizes is contingent on an adequate number of submissions.)
