DESCRIPTION:<p>The Department of English and General Linguistics at University of Lodz announces the Fourth International Conference on Philosophy of Language and Linguistics (<strong>PhiLang2015</strong>)</p>\n<p>The principal aim of our Conference is to bring together philosophers\, logicians and linguists\; next year we would like the papers to address the following general issues (the list is not exhaustive):</p>\n<p>- Philosophy of Language meets Philosophy of Mind</p>\n<p>- Philosophy of language\, linguistics and literary theory</p>\n<p>- Philosophical background of semantic and pragmatic theories</p>\n<p>- Metaphilosophy and philosophy of language</p>\n<p>We also plan a special session on the "Philosophical and linguistic analyses of reference".</p>\n<p>The following scholars have accepted our invitation to address the conference as plenary speakers:</p>\n<p><strong>Manuel Garc&iacute\;a-Carpintero</strong>&nbsp\;(Departament de L&ograve\;gica\, Hist&ograve\;ria i Filosofia de la Ci&egrave\;ncia\, Universitat de Barcelona)&nbsp\;<em>The Reference of Proper Names: The Presuppositional Account</em></p>\n<p><strong>Richard Gaskin</strong>&nbsp\;(Department of Philosophy\, University of Liverpool)&nbsp\;<em>Reference and Linguistic Idealism</em></p>\n<p><strong>Wolfram Hinzen</strong>&nbsp\;(Catalan Institute for Advanced Studies and Research</p>\n<p>(ICREA) &amp\; Department of Linguistics\, Universitat de Barcelona)&nbsp\;<em>The Grammar of Essential Indexicality</em></p>\n<p><strong>Joanna Odrowąż-Sypniewska</strong>&nbsp\;(Institute of Philosophy\, University of Warsaw)<em>Context\, Vagueness\, and Reference</em></p>\n<p><strong>Mari&aacute\;n Zouhar</strong>&nbsp\;(Institute of Philosophy\, Slovak Academy of Sciences)&nbsp\;<em>Against Descriptivism: On an Essential Difference between Proper Names and Definite Descriptions</em></p>\n<p><strong>The conference fee</strong>&nbsp\;is 200 EUR (125 for doctoral students)\; 350 PLN (200 for doctoral students) for participants from Poland. It covers the cost of participation\, conference materials\, lunch meals\, and conference dinner.</p>\n<p>Accommodation will be provided at the University Conference Center\, Lodz\, Kopcinskiego 16/18 (www.csk.uni.lodz.pl</a>). Single and double rooms are available.
