DESCRIPTION:
Western&rsquo\;s Minorities and Philosophy (MAP) Chapter is pleased to announce our 10th annual Minorities and Philosophy Undergraduate Conference\, taking place on March 19th\, 2027. This huge milestone marks a decade of celebrating the philosophical works of undergraduate students at Western! Over the past decade\, undergraduate students have been fortunate enough to have an active MAP chapter\, dedicated to making space for students with marginalized identities to do very important work. We are proud to continue this tradition\, especially amidst shifting political climates and declining support for academic programs that focus on social justice\, diversity\, and equality for all.
\n
Unfortunately\, this is not a space that many undergraduate students have access to at their own institutions. That is why\, in true MAP spirit\, this year\, we will be accepting papers from undergraduate students from all academic institutions. While we are unable to provide funding for travel and lodging expenses for presenters\, a limited number of virtual presentation spots will be available for those who cannot make it in person.
\n
In keeping with MAP&rsquo\;s values and commitments\, we welcome papers that engage with philosophical questions concerning gender\, race\, sexuality\, class\, disability\, and other related areas. These themes can intersect with other areas of philosophy. Although papers must engage with philosophical questions\, applicants need not be majoring\, minoring\, or specializing in philosophy. &nbsp\; Please note that presentations will be no more than 15 minutes long\, followed by a short Q&amp\;A period. The authors of accepted papers will be matched up with MAP representatives to help them prepare for the conference. Students are encouraged to submit a relevant term paper from a previous class.
\n

Submissions are expected to meet the following requirements:
\n
\n
Topic: Paper should engage with an area that reflects MAP&rsquo\;s commitments Ex: philosophy of gender\, race\, sexuality\, class\, disability\, etc. These themes can intersect with other areas of philosophy.
\n
Length: Roughly 1500-2000 words in length.
\n
Submission Format: Please prepare your paper for anonymous review Remove names and any other identifying information from all pages of the document itself.
\n
\n
Deadline: Email papers to the Western MAP email address: map@uwo.ca by December 11th\, 2026.
