DESCRIPTION:Is Religion A Consolation Worth Having?\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nRoyal Institute of Philosophy debate\, a part of&nbsp\;Being Human: A Festival of the Humanities\n\nFriday 21 November\, 6 &ndash\; 8 pm\n\n
Senate House\,&nbsp\;Malet Street\, London WC1E 7HU
\n\n\n\n
Professors Simon Blackburn (Cambridge) and Roger Scruton (Oxford) debate the question above &ndash\;&nbsp\;one that is&nbsp\;fundamental to our understanding of being human in the 21st&nbsp\;century. It is a question that in recent times has generated more heat than light.&nbsp\; Roger Scruton and Simon Blackburn are two of Britain&rsquo\;s most well known and distinguished philosophers.&nbsp\; They have strong and opposing views on the question\, but they have thought more deeply on it than many.&nbsp\; Their respective positions will be expounded and challenged in the debate\, but in an atmosphere conducive to further understanding.&nbsp\; The debate will be chaired and moderated by Melvyn Bragg.
\n\n\n
This event is free\, but you must book a place here:
