DESCRIPTION:
Fundamental results in the mathematical\ntheory of games were obtained early on in the 20th century by Zermelo\, Borel\,\nand von Neumann\; after the publication of &nbsp\;Theory of Games and Economic Behavior in1944\, it quickly became of fundamental importance to economic\ntheory\, being applied later on to other fields such as biology\, while in philosophy\nDavid Lewis&rsquo\; Convention was an important early application. Games also played a\nsignificant role within mathematics\, especially in model theory with\, e.g.\, the\nback-and-forth games\, and with the work of Lorenzen in the 1950s and Hintikka\nin the 1960s\, game semantics emerged\, again leading to important developments\nin philosophy\, e.g.\, within epistemic logic. Showing again the extraordinary\nfruitfulness and interdisciplinary nature of the concept of game\, game\nsemantics has become since a paradigm in logic and in computer science where it\nhave been used inter alia to model interactive computation and multi-agents systems\,\nas well as in linguistics and argumentation theory. The consequences on\nphilosophy of these numerous developments need to be explored. In an\ninterdisciplinary spirit\, this conference will bring together a number of key\ncontributors to and welcomes papers on the concept of games\, game theory and\ngame semantics\, with applications in economics\, logic\, computer science\,\nlinguistics\, argumentation theory\, and philosophy.
\n
Call for Submitted papers
\n
A limited number of papers will be selected for\npresentation at the symposium and considered for inclusion in the proceedings\nin the Baltic International Yearbook of Cognition\, Logic and\nCommunication.
\n
Time allowed for presentations is 40 minutes\nincluding discussion. Submitted papers should have a maximum of 3000 words and\nshould be accompanied by a 200 words abstract.
\n
All submitted papers should be prepared for blind review\, and should be sent electronically to: lapointe@mcmaster.ca.
\n
Symposium proposal
\n
In addition to individual papers\, the\nscientific committee will be considering proposals for symposia.
