DESCRIPTION:
Postgraduate workshop on Kant and German Idealism
\n
At the University of Warwick\, on 26th of June 2015\; R3.41 Ramphal Building
\n
In the contemporary literature the critique of Kant in German Idealism has again received increased attention. Especially Hegel's critique of Kant has been the subject of reconstructions in books such as Sally Sedgwick's &ldquo\;Hegel's Critique of Kant&rdquo\; or Bob Stern's &ldquo\;Hegel\, Kant and the Structure of the Object&rdquo\;. Our postgraduate workshop is supposed to bring together the most recent and promising research by graduate students on Kant and his reception in German Idealism. In the course of a day we will discuss Kant as well as the revived criticisms of the German Idealists. A special focus will be on the theoretical philosophy of Kant and the ways in which German Idealists challenge it.
\n\n
Programme
\n
9:30 Arrival and registration / Coffee
\n
10:00&ndash\;10:30 David Strohmaier (Sheffield) "Kantian Theoretical Philosophy and the Phenomenology of Spirit"
\n
10:30&ndash\;10:45 Response: Simon Wimmer (Warwick)
\n
10:45&ndash\;11:15 Q&amp\;A
\n
11:15&ndash\;12:00 Keynote: Andre&eacute\; Hahmann (G&ouml\;ttingen) "The truth of substance is the concept &ndash\; Hegel's transformation of the Analogies of Experience"
\n
12:00&ndash\;12:30 Q&amp\;A
\n
12:30 Lunch / Coffee
\n
13:30&ndash\;14:00 Nicolas Garcia Mills (Illinois/Chicago) "Kant\, Hegel\, and the Realizability Problem"
\n
14:00&ndash\;14:15 Response: David James (Warwick)
\n
14:15&ndash\;14:45 Q&amp\;A
\n
14:45 Coffee
\n
15:15&ndash\;15:45 Dino Jakusic (Warwick) "Kant&rsquo\;s conception of ontology"
\n
15:45&ndash\;16:00 Response: Tristan Kreetz (Warwick)
\n
16:00&ndash\;16:30 Q&amp\;A
\n
16:30 Coffee
\n
17:00&ndash\;17:45 Keynote: Stephen Houlgate "Hegel&rsquo\;s Critique of Kant"
\n
17:45&ndash\;18:15 Q&amp\;A
\n
18:30 Workshop dinner
\n\n
If you want to attend this workshop please register at kantandgermanidealism@gmail.com.
