DESCRIPTION:<p>The secular is often understood as regulating or limiting the expression of religion. Yet such an oppositional relation is undermined by attending to the secular's narrative structure and temporality. Barber proposes this narrative in terms of conversion\, which binds together the categories of secularity and religion. Apparently opposed categories thus belong to a common political project\, which is in need of re-evaluation.</p>\n<p><strong>Daniel Colucciello Barber</strong>&nbsp\;is a Fellow at the ICI Berlin Institute of Cultural Inquiry. In addition to numerous articles\, he is the&nbsp\;author of <em>Deleuze and the Naming of God: Post-Secularism and the Future of Immanence</em> (Edinburgh UP\, 2014) and <em>On Diaspora: Christianity\, Religion\, and Secularity</em> (Cascade\, 2011). His current research addresses the logic of conversion.</p>\n<p>The event will be held in English.</p>
