Workshop Theme:

The concept of the virtual is not only complex\, but essential to any understanding of the philosophy of Gilles Deleuze. There are many sources present behind this concept\, and although some are more clearly stated than others\, comprehension of these important links of influence is key to defining the virtual. Furthermore\, there are many differing interpretations of the precise structure and role of the virtual in Deleuze&rsquo\;s ontology and metaphysics. As such\, there are multiple readings of the all important relationships between the virtual and other Deleuzean concepts\, such as the crucial relationship between the virtual and the actual and between these concepts and the concept of intensity. This workshop brings together researchers in order to approach the concept of the virtual through different perspectives and influences and engage with\, and perhaps come to a new understanding of\, the virtual in Deleuze&rsquo\;s philosophy.
