Lying and deception have long been known to be pertinent to a wide variety of philosophical projects: from understanding interpersonal relationships and the function of political bodies to explicating the connection between knowledge and language. \; Recent work on each of these topics has often relied on certain presuppositions about the nature of lying and deception which are themselves very much open to question. \; This conference aims to bring together philosophers working on each of these varied projects\, to see where these philosophers share working assumptions about the nature of lying\, where their assumptions diverge\, and to discover precisely how this matters for a variety of philosophical questions.
