Human beings are that species among all animals which asks for its own existence. We are self-interpreting animals and develop cultural traditions to find answers for our quest for meaning. Both\, science and religion contribute to this quest and promote or challenge human uniqueness. Where do we stand today\, when we ask for the distinctiveness of the human kind? How do we understand human beings in relation to the cosmos\, to their fellow creatures\, to the process of evolution\, to the divine? How can we become what we are? Our conference will be looking for answers. All those attending ECST XVI are invited to offer a paper on the conference theme for presentation in a short paper session. Papers on other aspects of the interaction between science and theology are also welcome.
