DESCRIPTION:
If you're planning to attend the Eastern APA meeting later this week\, I hope you'll have a chance to stop by the Wiley booth to meet with me and my managing editor to hear about our plans at the Journal of Social Philosophy. We'll be keen to answer any questions you might have about publishing with us\, and the Wiley book acquisitions editor will be available as well. We're also interested in receiving proposals for guest edited special issues. With our new management structure in place\, we've been working to make our review process as efficient\, responsive\, and speedy as possible. &nbsp\; Attached is the flyer invitation for the event. It will take place from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. on Thursday\, January 7th\, at the Wiley booth\, #341. A coffee/tea reception will be provided.&nbsp\; &nbsp\; Here's a statement of the journal's aims and core concerns: The&nbsp\;Journal of Social Philosophy&nbsp\;seeks to publish creative approaches to practical and normative issues of contemporary social life\, such as those arising from economic and other forms of globalization\, violent political conflict\, and the multiplicity of cultural experiences worldwide. It places new emphasis on understanding the social contexts for political\, legal\, moral\, and cultural questions\, and gives priority to the development of novel theoretical frameworks\, from social ontology to care ethics to cosmopolitan theories of democracy\, human rights\, and global justice. The&nbsp\;Journal's&nbsp\;editorial process proceeds online\, with anonymous review of articles not only by referees but also by the editor\, and aims to deliver timely responses for submissions. The&nbsp\;Journal&nbsp\;also on occasion publishes special issues focusing on topics of vital practical concern\, in the conviction that these can be better understood with the aid of disciplined and innovative philosophical analysis. &nbsp\; If you decide to send us an article\, please have a look at the guidelines for authors: http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/journal/10.1111/(ISSN)1467-9833/homepage/ForAuthors.html &nbsp\; And here's a list of some of our previous special issues\, for your interest: http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/journal/10.1111/(ISSN)1467-9833/homepage/special_issues.htm&nbsp\; Hope to see you at the reception\, but if you can't make it\, please keep the journal in mind for your articles! &nbsp\;
\n
Carol Gould
Editor\,&nbsp\;Journal of Social Philosophy
\n
Member\, Institute for Advanced Studies\, Princeton\, NJ\, 2015-16
\n
Distinguished Professor of Philosophy\, Hunter College and the Graduate Center\,&nbsp\;City University of New York
\n
http://www.carolcgould.com
\n
Director\,&nbsp\;Center for Global Ethics &amp\; Politics&nbsp\;at the Ralph Bunche Institute\, the Graduate Center\, CUNY
\n
Email: carolcgould@gmail.com
\n
Journal submissions and questions: &nbsp\;jsocphil@gmail.com
