DESCRIPTION:<p>This conference aims to bring together academics from the creative arts concerned with the relationship between Practice as Research (PAR) and practice research led teaching.<br><br>Practice research in the creative arts encompasses a diverse range of approaches\, methods and performance outputs. How can we share these varied practices in supervising and teaching within higher education?<br><br>Playing on the double meaning of &lsquo\;practice&rsquo\; &ndash\; in PAR and when sharing &lsquo\;best practice&rsquo\; &ndash\; this event offers the opportunity to reflect on the development of pedagogical principles and what teaching innovation can mean within practice research.<br><br>The event covers three central themes:<br><br>a. Practice research fed postgraduate teaching</p>\n<ul>\n<li>how do we teach Master&rsquo\;s students practice in the arts?</li>\n<li>what challenges are faced for practice led postgraduate courses?</li>\n</ul>\n<p>b. Supervising practice PhDs (and UG/PG major projects)</p>\n<ul>\n<li>what considerations must be acknowledged in supervising practice research?</li>\n<li>what forms of output and dissemination are possible in practice PHDs?</li>\n<li>how should practice PHDs be assessed and disseminated?</li>\n<li>how do we process applications and interviews for practice PHDs?</li>\n</ul>\n<p>c. Practice teaching innovation &nbsp\;in undergraduate teach</p>\n<ul>\n<li>how might we implement innovation in teaching practice?</li>\n<li>how might we assess practice learning?</li>\n<li>what support is required for practice teaching?</li>\n<li>how can practice be a contribution to knowledge?</li>\n<li>how does performance present ideas and learning which can be used as assessment\, including synoptic assessment?</li>\n</ul>\n<p>We invite 500-word proposals for 20 minute papers\, workshops and lecture-recitals in relation to the above conference themes.
