DESCRIPTION:
7th International Colloquium on the
\n
Philosophy of Technology:
\n
Technology\, Politics\, Culture
\n
October 19\, 20 and 21\, 2016
\n
City of C&oacute\;rdoba\, Argentina.
\n
--- CALL FOR PAPERS ---
\n
The philosophy of technics encompasses a complex set of objects and problems crossing metaphysics\, epistemology\, ethics\, politics and philosophical anthropology\, as well as having an undoubted cultural and social significance.
\n
Scientific and technological knowledge is one central pillar of social development\, and it has become a necessary condition of establishing processes of recuperation of the labor market\, to support the economy\, to promote social inclusion\, and preserve and disseminate artistic and cultural heritage. However\, these processes are not exhausted in the implementation of specialized programs of research and development\, but also needs to count with human resources at all levels of the production system\, including the education system. For this it is necessary to possess skills to analyze the complexities of the dynamics of the technology involved. This involves the generation of a critical mass of actors that address the social\, cultural and political entanglements that engage technological aspects in the dynamics of these processes. Scientific and technological policies that are sustained on the basis of active citizen participation in decision-making\, implying citizens' access to reflections and information on the cultural and political implications of the development of technological systems\, are more likely to be oriented to solving social and environmental problems\, and fostering national and regional development.
\n
All scientific and technological projects of this nature require the development of a specific theoretical framework of the technical phenomenon and its dynamics. The 7th International Colloquium on the Philosophy of Technics aims to contribute to this project. The Colloquia have established themselves as a meeting space between philosophical traditions\, and disciplines that delve into\, and make use of\, models of technology. Under the theme of this meeting\, "Technology\, Politics and Culture" we aim to host papers examining key concepts concerning contemporary philosophical and theoretical debates\, open new avenues of inquiry within the discipline\, and strengthen growth and collaboration between researchers dedicated to studying the phenomenon of technology\, and its impact on scientific and technological policies.
\n
The papers should be of 30 minutes duration. Presentations on the following topics are encouraged\, although we will consider any proposal within the field of the philosophy of technology:
\n
&middot\; Technology and politics.
\n
&middot\; Anthropology of material culture.
\n
&middot\; Art and technology
\n
&middot\; Post humanism
\n
&middot\; Metaphysics of the artificial and ontology of artifacts
\n
&middot\; Epistemology of the technical phenomenon.
\n
&middot\; Normativity in technology
\n
&middot\; Phenomenology of the technical world.
\n
Proposals for papers should be sent to coloquiofdt@gmail.com with two attachments (.doc\, .pdf\, or .rtf) containing:
\n
\n
\n
An extended abstract of approximately 500 words\, presenting the title of the paper and indicating the argumentative scheme of work. This should include the specification of the problem addressed\, the thesis and bibliography.
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
Author details: name\, institutional affiliation\, and email address.
\n
\n
\n
The name and institutional affiliation of the author must appear only in the second document. The abstracts received will be subject to blind refereed by specialists appointed by the organizing committee. The latter reserves the right to request the full paper if necessary.
\n
Closing day of reception: July 31\, 2016.
