DESCRIPTION:<p>The Society for the Advancement of American Philosophy cordially invites the submission of papers and proposals for its 44th annual meeting\, to be held in Birmingham\, Alabama. The theme of the conference is &ldquo\;<strong>Race: Where are we? Where do we need to go?</strong>&rdquo\; Papers in all areas of American Philosophy are welcome. We especially encourage submissions in the areas of Africana philosophy\, critical philosophy of race\, feminism\, and Native American philosophy.</p>\n<p><strong>Deadline for Submissions: 11:59 p.m. </strong>Pacific Time\, <em>September 1\, 2016</em>. <strong>&nbsp\;</strong></p>\n<p><strong>Student Travel Funds: </strong>Limited travel funds are available to assist students whose papers are accepted for the program.&nbsp\; Please contact Bill Myers\, SAAP Treasurer\, at <a href="mailto:bmyers@bsc.edu">bmyers@bsc.edu</a>for more information.</p>\n<p><strong>Prizes: </strong>Only papers that are accepted to the <strong>regular </strong>program (that is\, not panels or invited group presentations) are eligible for the Greenlee\, Blau\, Mellow\, and Inter-American Philosophy Prizes. Panels are eligible for the Addams Prize if completed papers are submitted along with the panel abstract.&nbsp\;</p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Greenlee Prize</strong> (Awarded to the best paper presented at annual meeting by either a graduate student or person holding a Ph.D. for no more than five years)</li>\n<li><strong>Blau Prize</strong> (Awarded to the author of paper that makes most significant contribution to the history of American Philosophy)</li>\n<li><strong>Mellow Prize</strong> (Awarded to person whose paper advances American philosophical tradition toward the resolution of current personal\, social and political problems)</li>\n<li><strong>Addams Prize</strong> (Awarded to the best paper presented at annual meeting on issues in feminist thought as they occur in American philosophies)</li>\n<li><strong>Inter-American Philosophy Award</strong> (Awarded to the best submitted paper concerning Latin American\, Latino/a\, or indigenous philosophies across the Americas presented at annual meeting)</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Commentators and Session Chairs: </strong>Persons interested in serving in these capacities should contact the 2017 Program Co-Chairs\, Kim Garchar <a href="mailto:kgarchar@kent.edu">kgarchar@kent.edu</a><strong>&nbsp\;</strong>and V.
