DESCRIPTION:<p><strong>Florida Philosophical Association</strong></p>\n<p>62nd Annual Meeting</p>\n<p>CALL FOR PAPERS</p>\n<p>Paper submissions are invited for the 62nd annual meeting of the Florida Philosophical Association\, to be held November 4&ndash\;5\, 2016\, in Melbourne FL hosted by the Florida Institute of Technology. More details are available on the FPA web-site: <strong><u>http://www.phil.ufl.edu/fpa/</u></strong></p>\n<p>Program Coordinator: Dr. Jonathan Matheson (University of North Florida)</p>\n<p>Local Organizer: Dr. Andrew Aberdein (Florida Institute of Technology)</p>\n\n<p><strong>1. Regular Submissions</strong></p>\n<p>a. Submission deadline: <strong>August 26\, 2016</strong></p>\n<p>i. Papers in all areas of philosophy are welcome.</p>\n<p>ii. All papers are to be prepared for anonymous review (remove all author identifying information.</p>\n<p>iii. Papers submitted for inclusion in the regular program must be prepared for blind review and limited to a reading time of 30 minutes (approximately 12 double-spaced pages and usually not more than 4\,000 words). Presentation time for the regular program is 45 minutes (30 minutes reading time and 15 minutes discussion).</p>\n<p>iv. Graduate Paper Awards (GPA) Competition</strong></p>\n<p>a. Submission deadline: <strong>August 26\, 2016</strong></p>\n<p>b. Graduate students submitting papers for the regular program may also elect to have their papers considered for the Outstanding Graduate Paper Award and should indicate that this is the case in the body of the email.&nbsp\; The winning paper will be published in <em>Florida Philosophical Review </em>and the author will receive a monetary award. <strong>Only students at Florida colleges and universities are eligible.</strong></p>\n<p>c. Also include an abstract of no more than 150 words with your paper submission.</p>\n<p><strong>3. Undergraduate Paper Awards (UPA) Competition</strong></p>\n<p>a. Submission Deadline: <strong>September 9\, 2016</strong> (Note that the submission deadline for the undergraduate award competition is later than the general deadline for paper submissions.)</p>\n<p>b. Undergraduate students may submit papers for special award consideration\, and should indicate that this is the case by including &ldquo\;UPA-4year&rdquo\; or &ldquo\;UPA-2year&rdquo\; in the submission email\, depending on which of the following awards they are competing for:</p>\n<p>i. The Gerritt and Edith Schipper Award for Outstanding Undergraduate Philosophy Paper in a Four-Year College or University\, or</p>\n<p>ii. The Outstanding Undergraduate Paper in a Two-Year College.</p>\n<p>c. Papers may be any length\, but 15 double-spaced pages are recommended. Winning papers will be published in <em>Florida Philosophical Review</em> and the author will receive a monetary award. <strong>Only students at Florida colleges and universities are eligible.</strong></p>\n<p>d. Also include an abstract of no more than 150 words with your paper submission.</p>\n<p><strong>4. Special Sessions</strong></p>\n<p>Proposals for special panel sessions are also welcome.&nbsp\; Your suggestions should be sent to the Program Coordinator at: <a href="mailto:j.matheson@unf.edu">j.matheson@unf.edu</a>.</p>\n<p>Submission Deadline: <strong>August 12\, 2016</strong></p>\n<p>To submit a proposal for a panel session\, the panel organizer should prepare and submit a &nbsp\;panel presentation document with the following components: i) panel title\, ii) participants\, iii) a panel abstract which constitutes an overview statement of the theme of the panel\, and iv) a panel brief by each of the proposed panel members. A panel brief is text that is (or would be the basis of) the panelist's intended presentation.</p>\n<p><strong>5. Florida Philosophical Review</strong></p>\n\n<p>Authors who wish to have their papers also considered for publication in the Florida Philosophical Review should visit the journal website at <u>http://philosophy.cah.ucf.edu/fpr/submissions.php</u> and follow the separate instructions for submissions.</p>
