UID:20260609T020106Z-iCalPlugin-Grails@philevents-web-bd7db559-gt5qm
TZID:Europe/London
LOCATION:München\, Germany
DESCRIPTION:
The conference's topic is the comparison between the two main approaches to truth: axiomatic and semantic.&nbsp\;Why\n go one way rather than the other? Do the two approaches exclude each \nother? Are there alternative approaches? In which categories fall the \nmost important existing theories? Is there a deeper metaphysical \ndistinction underlying the two approaches? Can revenge\n arguments give grounds for preferring one approach over another? Can \nphilosophical reflection on other disciplines\, such as logic and \nset-theory\, help us understanding the nature\, and the philosophical \nimport\, of the semantic/axiomatic divide?
\n\n
We invite submissions for&nbsp\;35-40-minute presentations (with 25-20&nbsp\;additional\nminutes for&nbsp\;discussion). Submissions should take the form&nbsp\;of either a \n1500 word abstract or a full paper of no more than 5000 words\, with a \n150-200 word&nbsp\;abstract.\n Contact details - authors&rsquo\; names\, postal address\, affiliation\, phone \nnumber&nbsp\;and e-mail address - should be given separately. Submissions should be sent by e-mail in an attached file in .pdf\, .ps or.rtf format to&nbsp\;axiomaticsemantic@gmail.com.\n Submitted papers&nbsp\;will be blind refereed.
\n
SUBMISSIONS MUST BE RECEIVED BY DECEMBER 15\, 2012. Communication of&nbsp\;acceptance: January 15\, 2012.
\n
Unfortunately\n we will not be able to cover travel expenses\, although we&nbsp\;will try to \ncover the accommodation expenses of authors of accepted papers\, \ndepending on the success\n of our funding applications. There will be a&nbsp\;maximum of 2 submissions \naccepted.
\n\n
For&nbsp\;questions or any other queries\, you may write to axiomaticsemantic@gmail.com.
