DESCRIPTION:<p>The First Conference of the ESMP is scheduled for October 26-28\,&nbsp\;2016 at Campostrini Foundation&nbsp\;in Verona\, Italy.</p>\n<p>Call for Papers is now open.&nbsp\;The deadline is August&nbsp\;1st\, 2016.</p>\n<p>If you are interested in participating&nbsp\;in the conference\, please send your&nbsp\;abstract&nbsp\;of no more than 1000 words (references included) to&nbsp\;moralphilosophy.eu@gmail.com&nbsp\;and indicate the number of the panel. The abstract has to be&nbsp\;prepared for blind refereeing. Please including &ldquo\;ESMP_VERONA2016&rdquo\; in the heading of the email.</p>\n<p>Language of the conference: English.</p>\n<p>Communication of acceptance:&nbsp\; September 1\, 2016.</p>\n<p>***</p>\n<p>PANELS 1st Panel: The Problem of &ldquo\;Good&rdquo\; in the History of Philosophy.</p>\n<p>We will accept contributions that focus how the meaning of &ldquo\;the good&rdquo\; has changed over&nbsp\;the course of the history of philosophy\, especially those which &nbsp\;shed light on the way the these changes may have influenced or been influenced by changing notions of what it means to be human.</p>\n<p>2nd Panel: The Good and Rights.</p>\n<p>We will accept contributions that focus on the relationship between what is good and the law. In this panel we will discuss the connection between ethics and rights\, including whether and how is possible to define an ethical universal.</p>\n<p>3rd Panel: The Good in Cultures and Traditions.</p>\n<p>We will accept contributions that highlight how &ndash\; extending beyond mere philosophical influences &ndash\; the concept of the good may differ in various historical and cultural contexts\, and the ways in which a notion of the good may become the heir\, and thus the bearer\, of a particular tradition\, be it cultural\, religious\, or otherwise.</p>\n<p>4th Panel: Good and God.</p>\n<p>We accept contributions that focus on&nbsp\;the relationship between philosophical notions of the good on the one hand and belief on the other. The panel will discuss the connection between subjective and objective goods\, both as approached privately and as learnt at various levels of society. The relationship between good and religion will also be considered.</p>
