Raffaele\, Milano)\, Maciej Witek (Szczecin).</p>\n<p>The keynote speech\, on Collective Agency\,<br> will be given by Elisabeth Pacherie (Centre Jean Nicod\, Paris).</p>\n<p>The workshop aims to explore the issue of collective agency\, highlighting its relationship with the dynamics of speech actions. On the one hand\, among the approaches to collective agency\, at least two\, John Searle&rsquo\;s pioneering account featuring we-intentionality\, and Margaret Gilbert&rsquo\;s account individuating the source of collective agency in the ability to achieve joint commitment\, are connected to speech act-theoretical notions. It is therefore likely that an analysis of the dynamics of speech actions could contribute to the understanding of collective agency\, its pre-conditions\, its connection to individual and group behavior and to intentionality\, and the kinds of actions it may initiate and be responsible for. On the other hand\, since the social context is the indispensable background of language use and\, moreover\, the dynamics of speech actions involves agreement or alignment between agents that may have a collective dimension\, the analysis of collective agency could contribute to an improved understanding of how speech actions are successfully performed and even to the exploration of the various kinds of speech actions.</p>\n<p>Contributions are invited on the following topics:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>How did (or how can now) speech act-theoretical notions and models contribute to theories of joint or collective action?</p>\n</li>\n<li>\n<p>Are there common features in cognitive mechanisms enabling collective agency and cognitive mechanisms involved in the dynamics of speech actions?</p>\n</li>\n<li>\n<p>Do speech actions play a role in enabling and exercising collective agency?</p>\n</li>\n<li>\n<p>Does collective agency play a role in the performance of speech actions (especially</p>\n<p>illocutionary and perlocutionary acts)?</p>\n<p>5 submitted contributions will be selected for presentation.</p>\n<p>Abstracts (between 2000 and 3000 characters\, references included) should be prepared for blind review\, with all self-reference and personal data suppressed\, and sent to Marianna Ginocchietti m.ginocchietti@gmail.com before August 12\, 2016.
