DESCRIPTION:<p>John Petrov Plamenatz\, Chichele Professor of Social and&nbsp\;Political Theory\, Oxford University\; was born on May 16th&nbsp\;1912 in Cetinje\, Montenegro and died on February 19th 1975&nbsp\;in Hook Norton\, England.<br><br>A conference to commemorate the centenary of his birth is planned on 4-5 September 2012 in&nbsp\;Oriel College\, Oxford\, lasting from mid-day to mid-day. Accommodation and meals will be&nbsp\;available in the College.<br><br>Papers will be read and discussed\, centring on the main themes of the lectures on Machiavelli\,&nbsp\;Hobbes\, and Rousseau\, which he was preparing to give at Cambridge University in the&nbsp\;autumn of 1975. The edited text of the lectures is being published by the Oxford University&nbsp\;Press in June of this year.
