The Unconscious\, Desire and Politics \;  \;
\nWhat role do desire and the unconscious play in the socio-political realm? The political virulence of unconscious drives and inclinations has traditionally been discussed in terms of a collective imaginary\, an ensemble of images and stories that bear the hopes and fears of a people. However\, the Deleuzian and Guattarian notion of a molecular unconscious functions differently. It does not reside in the imaginary. It is real\, constituted by flows of desire that produce connections and assemblages between and across heterogeneous non-signifying elements. These unconscious molecular processes of desire not only constitute and stabilize socio-political formations\, but also effectuate political crises\, phases of upheaval and revolution.
\nThe workshop aims to sharpen the understanding of Deleuze&rsquo\;s and Guattari&rsquo\;s notion of desire\, the way that it operates in a molecular unconscious and produces effects in the socio-political field.
