DESCRIPTION:
The Marquette Philosophy Graduate Student Association invites submissions for our 2017 annual spring conference.&nbsp\; The theme of this year&rsquo\;s conference is &ldquo\;Forgotten Philosophers (and why we should remember them.&rdquo\;&nbsp\; A &ldquo\;forgotten philosopher&rdquo\; is a philosopher whose work has been typically neglected\, ignored\, marginalized\, or has simply fallen out of favor in the contemporary philosophical context. &nbsp\;The category itself is open to interpretation.&nbsp\; Our hope for this year&rsquo\;s conference is to give graduate students the opportunity to share their research on figures that are no longer generally appreciated.&nbsp\; In particular\, we want to give up-and-coming researchers a chance to show why their philosopher of choice is worthy of attention today.&nbsp\; We encourage submissions about any tradition or period of historical philosophy.
\n
Keynote Speaker: Frederick C. Beiser (Syracuse University)
\n
Please prepare an abstract of about 500 words\, prepared for blind review\, and send as a PDF or Word document to marquettepgsa@gmail.com. &nbsp\;The body of your email should include your name\, paper title\, email address\, and institutional affiliation. The subject heading of your email should read: [your name] MUGPC Submission 17.&nbsp\;
\n
If your paper is accepted\, you will have 20-25 minutes for presentation. MU philosophy graduate students will serve as commentators on presented papers. Final drafts should be approximately 3000 words.
\n
Submission deadline: January 20\, 2017.
\n
Registration fee for participants: $25 (includes conference dinner and light refreshments throughout)
\n
Please address any general questions to Clark Wolf (william.c.wolf@marquette.edu).
