The aim of this event is to help those working on theories of global justice to identify and address \;specific moral issues that international economic institutions raise. For example: &lsquo\;Should the WTO \;have a role in enforcing labour rights?&rsquo\;\; &lsquo\;Do economic institutions have a moral duty to mitigate \;their negative effects on the poor and on the environment?&rsquo\;\; &lsquo\;Should economic institutions \;promote equality of opportunity?&rsquo\;\; &lsquo\;What are the ethical issues relating to currency devaluations?&rsquo\;
These and similar issues have become increasingly salient\, both because of advances in the debate \;on global justice and because the recent economic and financial crisis has emphasised our shared \;economic vulnerabilities.
We welcome proposals for papers in relevant areas of political theory and philosophy.
Proposals for paper presentations should consist of a 500-word abstract. Presenters will have 15 \;minutes to speak plus 15 minutes for discussion.
Proposals for panels should consist of a 500-word abstract plus a list of three panellists. Panel \;sessions will last for approximately 90 minutes.
The deadline for submissions is July 15th.
