DESCRIPTION:
Submissions of high quality in any area of philosophy will be considered. This year we encourage papers focused especially on the topic of Causality.
\n
Questions about causality arise in diverse areas of philosophical endeavor. From ethics and the philosophy of mind and action to metaphysics and the philosophy of science\, these questions have far-reaching implications for our understanding of ourselves and the world. Causality has been a central topic for many figures in the history of philosophy\, such as Aristotle and the Scholastics\, Spinoza\, Hume\, and Kant. How does causality relate to freedom of the will? Are mental properties causally relevant for physical behavior? What role do causal claims play in scientific explanations? While these are some of the more traditionally prominent questions about causality\, we encourage submissions that explore any issues related to causality.
\n
All submissions must be prepared for blind review. The paper must have no identifying information and must include an abstract of no more than 250 words.
\n
Submitted papers must be no more than 4\,500 words in length.
\n
Submitted papers must be received as .doc\, .docx\, or .pdf files by January 30\, 2017.
\n
Accepted papers will be announced in February 2017.
