DESCRIPTION:<p>Recently\, there has been renewed interest in ignorance\, and in particular\, what it is about an epistemic agent that prevents them from acquiring knowledge or from taking acquired knowledge into account in their actions. We invite contributions dealing with questions like:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>what such epistemic vices are (habits\, character traits\, &hellip\;)\;</li>\n<li>what sorts of ignorance there are (ignorance that\, ignorance how\, 2nd order ignorance\,&hellip\;)\;</li>\n<li>what sort of epistemic vice entails what sort of ignorance\;</li>\n<li>whether\, and if so\, when and how ignorance can or should be overcome\;</li>\n<li>how to deal with insurmountable ignorance\;</li>\n<li>how externalists vs internalists about knowledge deal with ignorance\, etc.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>We invite submissions from graduate students on the conference topic. We especially encourage submissions from members of groups that are underrepresented in academic philosophy.</p>\n<p><strong>Submission information<br> </strong><em>Deadline for submission of abstracts</em>: *11 March 2017*<br> <em>Notification of acceptance</em>: mid March 2017</p>\n<p>Abstracts of approximately 500 words should be in English and prepared for blind review. The author&rsquo\;s name\, affiliation\, email address and the title of the submitted paper must be included in a separate document. It should be clear from your abstract which authors and debates your paper will address. Files can be submitted in PDF or DOC(X) and should be sent to: graduate-conference.wfap [at] univie.ac.at\, reference &ldquo\;submission&rdquo\;.</p>\n<p><br> All abstracts will be reviewed by members of the Vienna Forum for Analytic Philosophy and faculty members of the Department of Philosophy at the University of Vienna. Accepted papers should be suitable for a 30-min presentation (approx. 3.000 words).</p>\n<p><strong>Access<br> </strong>We aim to be an inclusive conference and will do our best\, within our budgetary constraints\, to help with childcare if needed and to lower the barrier of participation for philosophers with disabilities.
