DESCRIPTION:<p>Montreal&rsquo\;s Cognitive Science Day<br>UQ&Agrave\;M <br>Cognitive Representations</p>\n<p><br>The second edition of Montreal&rsquo\;s Cognitive Science Day will explore the theme of Cognitive Representations. The event will take place on Wednesday\, May 3rd 2017\, at Universit&eacute\; du Qu&eacute\;bec &agrave\; Montr&eacute\;al.<br>Professor Kristine Onishi (McGill University) will be our invited keynote.</p>\n<p><br>We invite you to submit your proposals on Cognitive Representations. Proposals can be on any related research project\, answering questions including\, but not limited to\, the following:<br>- What is a cognitive representation? What is the nature of cognitive representations and how do we distinguish one from another? How should we define it/them?<br>- How do we determine the appropriate representational format or formats for a cognitive representation? How can those representational formats interact with each other?<br>- Are cognitive representations specific or abstract?<br>- Are cognitive representations modal or amodal?<br>- What are the different representational systems?<br>- What are the different biological systems that allow representations? How do they develop?<br>- Are representations different in young children? And with some psychopathologies and atypicalities?<br>- What could be the representational content of non-human animals?<br>- Through which process does the brain interpret representational content?<br>- What are the roles and functions of representations?<br>- What are the roles of representations in language evolution?<br>- Can we do without representations in cognitive sciences?</p>\n<p><br>Send us a <strong>150 to 300 words abstract</strong> in an attached PDF file\, prepared for double-anonymous peer review\, by <strong>Tuesday\, March 21st</strong>\, to the following address: <strong>uqam.cogsci@gmail.com</strong></p>\n<p><br>Please indicate in the body of your email your contact information (name\, email\, affiliation) and your preference between an oral presentation\, a poster presentation or a short presentation of recent data (data blitz). The organization will respect preferences for poster presentations and data blitz but reserves the right to offer a different type of presentation to submissions for an oral presentation\, depending on the proposal&rsquo\;s ranking following peer review.</p>
