DESCRIPTION:<p>We are pleased to invite you to submit an abstract of a contributed talk to TMC 2017.</p>\n<p><strong>Deadline of the submission: 31 July\, 2017</strong></p>\n<p>Notification of accepted contributed talk: 10 August\, 2017</p>\n<p>First announcement of the Program: 15 October\, 2017</p>\n<p>DESCRIPTION OF TMC 2017</p>\n<p>It is beyond any reasonable doubt that Donald Davidson has a remarkable influence on contemporary philosophy in a variety of fields\, especially in the philosophy of language\, the philosophy of mind\, theory of action\, theory of meaning\, to mention a few. As it happens\, this year\, 2017\, is the centenary anniversary of his birth. To celebrate his great contribution\, we are now organizing a workshop on his philosophy\, as the core of the Third Taiwan Metaphysics Colloquium (TMC 2017).</p>\n<p>All researchers working on various aspects of Davidson&rsquo\;s philosophy are welcome to present their current research at the workshop. To make this workshop more rewording\, we have also invited some distinguished philosophers\; some of them are renowned Davidsonian specialists:</p>\n<p>KEYNOTE SPEAKER:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Jennifer Hornsby (Birkbeck College\, London University\, UK)</li>\n<li>Pascal Engel (&Eacute\;cole des hautes &eacute\;tudes en sciences sociales (EHESS) -- School for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences\, France)</li>\n</ul>\n<p>INVITED SPEAKERS:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Derek Baker (Lingnan University\, Hong Kong)</li>\n<li>Robert Myers\, (York University\, Canada)</li>\n<li>Neil Sinhababu (National University Singapore\, Singapore)</li>\n<li>Rowland Stout (University College Dublin\, Ireland)</li>\n<li>Claudine Verheggen (York University\, Canada)</li>\n<li>Wan-Chun Fang (Sinica Academia\, Taiwan)</li>\n</ul>\n<p>SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS FOR CONTRIBUTED TALKS</p>\n<p>All researchers working on various aspects of Davidson&rsquo\;s philosophy are cordially invited to submit their abstracts by 31 July\, 2017. Authors should submit an (extended) abstract about one page but no more than four pages (A4 size\, single space). Each submission will be reviewed. Yang [cmyang@ntu.edu.tw]</li>\n</ul>\n<p>BOOK SYMPOSIUMS</p>\n<p>As it happens\, there are two recent publications on Davidson&rsquo\;s philosophy by our invited speakers:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Robert H. Myers &amp\; Claudine Verheggen. 2016. Donald Davidson&rsquo\;s Triangulation Argument: A Philosophical Inquiry. London: Routledge. (Organizer: Wai-Chun Leong [waichun.leong@gmail.com])</li>\n<li>Neil Sinhababu. Forthcoming. Humean Nature: How Desire Explains Action\, Thought\, and Feeling. Oxford: Oxford University Press. (Organizer: Chun-Ping Yen)</li>\n</ul>\n<p>The organizing committee intends to organize book symposiums on each book as two special sessions of the workshop\, if possible. Any critical review or comments on these two books are welcome. Please contact the organizers\, respectively.</p>\n<p>POST-CONFERENCE PUBLICATION</p>\n<p>Just like TPLC-series\, TMC-series intends to provide a forum for philosophers\, typically for scholars in Asian area and local scholars\, to exchange their research results and/or ongoing ideas of originality. We are planning to publish a post-conference proceedings for the workshop as a volume of the LIAA-series by Springer\, or some other venue. All authors of papers presented at the joint conference will be encouraged to submit a full length paper\, and the deadline of the submission of full-length manuscripts will be around the end of February 2018. All papers submitted will be refereed to high journal standards\, and acceptance as a presentation is no guarantee that the post-conference paper will be published. Detailed information about the submission of full length papers will be announced later. [In case your abstract is merely\, or mainly\, based on some of your previous work which has been submitted to some journal/collection for consideration\, we would be most grateful if you could possibly note this explicitly when you send us your abstract.]</p>\n<p>TRAVEL GRANTS FOR STUDENTS AND JUNIOR RESEARCHERS</p>\n<p>Free accommodation and travel awards for students and young researchers have been made available by the organizing committee. In some cases full compensation of expenses is possible. The details\, including general information about the awards and the instructions of application\, will be announced later on the website. The deadline for travel award applications is 31 August\, 2017.
