DESCRIPTION:<p>World Economics Association invites contributions to an inaugural web-based conference&nbsp\;<em>Economic Philosophy: Complexities in Economics</em>.</p>\n<p><strong>The Conference Leaders</strong>: John B. Davis and Wade Hands.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p><strong>Call for papers</strong></p>\n<p>There is considerable interest in recent economics in the idea of complexity. There are also many different ideas about what complexity involves\, making the subject of complexity itself a complex matter! Thus the plural form &ndash\; complexities in economics &ndash\; is purposefully suggested in order to accommodate the following issues in this inaugural conference in Economic Philosophy:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>the diversity of accounts and conceptions of complexity itself</li>\n<li>how the nature and content of economics is complex</li>\n<li>the complex history of economics</li>\n<li>different approaches to introducing complexity into economics</li>\n<li>the complex relation between the sociology of economics and its content</li>\n<li>the complexity of economic philosophy as an interdisciplinary subject</li>\n<li>the complex interplay between normative and descriptive pluralism</li>\n</ul>\n<p>To produce an integrated conference fostering communication between the many ways that people think about complexity\, papers contributed to the conference should begin with a brief opening section stating their</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Methodological and/or philosophical assumptions\;</li>\n<li>Point of entry in relation to&nbsp\;the Theoretical Background Statement&nbsp\;accompanying this call (http://economicphilosophy2017.weaconferences.net/conference-background/).</li>\n</ul>\n<p>This will provide the basis for the organization of the conference sessions\, and help to frame the papers&rsquo\; treatment of complexity for the conference participants.</p>\n<p>A partial\, non-exclusive list of topics includes:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>computational complexity</li>\n<li>cognition and bounded rationality</li>\n<li>nonlinearities and disequilibria</li>\n<li>ontological and epistemological pluralism</li>\n<li>agent-based modeling and complex adaptive behavior</li>\n<li>emergence\, novelty\, and evolution</li>\n<li>heterogeneous agents and expectations</li>\n<li>reflexivity and feedback loops emergence</li>\n<li>out of equilibrium and chaotic dynamics</li>\n<li>big data</li>\n<li>multiple identities</li>\n<li>abduction and simulation</li>\n<li>complexity across different levels</li>\n<li>bubbles and related phenomena</li>\n<li>climate change economics and complexity</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Submissions</strong></p>\n<p>Please send papers with abstracts and keywords to John Davis (john.davis@mu.edu) and Wade Hands (hands@ups.edu) by&nbsp\;<strong>August 15th\, 2017</strong>.</p>\n<p><strong>Key dates<br></strong>Deadline for paper submissions:&nbsp\;<strong>15th August\, 2017</strong><br>The notification of acceptance will be sent by&nbsp\;<strong>September 15th\, 2017</strong></p>\n<p>Discussion Forum:&nbsp\;<strong>2nd October to 30th November\, 2017</strong></p>\n<p>After the conference selected papers will be considered for publication.</p>\n<p>For manuscripts guidelines\, and complete general guidelines about the WEA Online Conferences\, please check:<br>https://www.worldeconomicsassociation.org/conferences/guidelines/&nbsp\;</p>
