Part of the series Bucharest Colloquium in Analytic Philosophy (BCAP 2017)\, the 4th edition of the Bucharest &ndash\; Oxford Workshop in Applied Ethics will take place at the Faculty of Philosophy\, University of Bucharest on June 13-14.
\nUsing methodological tools from applied ethics and practical philosophy\, the talks from the workshop will tackle around cutting edge issues with a significant impact on the public agenda both at a Romanian and global level. Is climate change the greatest moral challenge we face? What is normativity and how could we re-conceptualize it? Why is authenticity an important social virtue? How could we assess and control the algorithms that govern our digital life? Is there a need for ethics in genetics? Is there any chance for a private mental life in a world of neurointerventions? What are the novel arguments in favor of neuroenhancement? These are only just a set of questions and issues that the British and Romanian researchers will analyse during the two days of the workshop. Notable participants include Julian Savulescu (University of Oxford)\, Roger Crisp (University of Oxford)\, Ingmar Persson (University of Oxford)\, Mircea Dumitru (Rector\, University of Bucharest) and Emilian Mihailov (University of Bucharest).
\nOn June 12 Roger Crisp and Julian Savulescu will deliver two open lectures in moral philosophy and bioethics for master and PhD students of the University of Bucharest.
