DESCRIPTION:<p>The&nbsp\;<strong>International Summer School on Evolution&nbsp\;</strong>aims to better prepare a future generation for inter- and transdisciplinary evolution research by providing courses on cutting edge research in biological and sociocultural evolutionary sciences for Master\, Doctoral and Postdoctoral students. Emphasis lies on topics that are currently underrepresented in (post)graduate curricula.</p>\n<p><strong>About the Summer School</strong></p>\n<p>The School is organized by the&nbsp\;Applied Evolutionary Epistemology Lab&nbsp\;of the&nbsp\;Centre for Philosophy of Science of the University of Lisbon\, in collaboration with&nbsp\;Ci&ecirc\;ncia Viva&nbsp\;and with the support of the&nbsp\;John Templeton Foundation.</p>\n<p>During one week\, international experts will teach 9 courses on critical aspects of biological and socio-cultural evolution.</p>\n<p>About the courses<br><br>Module 1: EVOLutionary theory<br>Courses are taught by: Lu&iacute\;s Villarreal\, Ilya T&euml\;mkin\, Frietson Galis.<br><br>Module 2: sociocultural Evolution<br>Courses are taught by Fiona Jordan\, Marion Blute\, Nathalie Gontier &amp\;<br>Emanuele Serrelli.<br><br>Module 3: philosophy of biology<br>Courses are taught by Derek Turner\, Fr&eacute\;d&eacute\;ric Bouchard\, Michael Ruse.<br><br>The course program is online at:<br>http://evolutionschool.fc.ul.pt/summer/sub/pro/program.php</p>\n<p><strong>Target Audience</strong></p>\n<p>All courses are taught at a level accessible to Master\, PhD and&nbsp\;post-doctoral students in the exact\, life\, human and sociocultural&nbsp\;evolutionary sciences. Students of evolutionary biology\, evolutionary&nbsp\;developmental biology\, virology\, paleontology\, evolutionary linguistics\,&nbsp\;evolutionary anthropology\, and philosophy of biology will especially benefit&nbsp\;from these courses.&nbsp\;Students will be provided a mandatory reading list which will form the basis&nbsp\;of lectures and discussions.
