\;Topic: \;Debates around the justice of geoengineering have often\, implicitly or explicitly\, assumed the perspective of high-emitting groups that are disproportionately responsible for geoengineering research. We should re-orient our normative thinking regarding climate engineering research\, governance\, and deployment to include the agency and perspectives of the global South and subaltern groups. Working with the ETC Group\, we will convene academics and representatives from diverse social movements to lead intersectional discussions on what geoengineering means for racial and environmental justice\, food sovereignty\, youth\, gender\, health and global justice as well as climate justice. The goal of this panel is to place normative work in political theory or philosophy on geoengineering with activist and civil society organizations from the Global South.
\nCall for Papers: We seek long abstracts\, roughly 400 words\, for papers that engage in critical reflection upon and normative evaluation of climate engineering that centrally locates the interests\, experience\, agency\, or role of the Global South and marginalized groups.
