DESCRIPTION:<p><strong>The Vassar College Journal of Philosophy</strong> is a student-run publication supported by</p>\n<p>the Philosophy Department of Vassar College. Dedicated to both quality and</p>\n<p>accessibility\, it seeks to give undergraduate students from all disciplines a</p>\n<p>platform to express and discuss philosophical ideas.</p>\n<p>All those interested in contributing an essay to the issue of the Journal to be</p>\n<p>published in the Winter of 2018 are invited to review the submission</p>\n<p>guidelines listed below. Every issue of the Journal has an overall theme.</p>\n<p>Submissions ranging across a variety of topics are welcome as long as</p>\n<p>they can be related to that theme\, which this year is <strong>&ldquo\;Borders.&rdquo\;</strong></p>\n<p>&ldquo\;Borders&rdquo\; is a theme that lends itself to a wide variety of</p>\n<p>philosophical approaches\, including but not limited to: ethics\, social</p>\n<p>and political philosophy\, logic\, aesthetics\, metaphysics\,</p>\n<p>epistemology\, the history of philosophy\, Critical Theory\, philosophy</p>\n<p>of religion\, and queer and feminist theory. Theoretically oriented</p>\n<p>works from disciplines outside philosophy such as geography\,</p>\n<p>literature\, sociology\, political science\, mathematics\, and art history</p>\n<p>are also welcome. An essay on the theme of borders may interrogate</p>\n<p>concepts such as territory\, genre\, limit\, gender\, or taboo.</p>\n<p>The Journal is available digitally at philosophy.vassar.edu/students/journal.</p>\n<p>Any further inquiries should be directed to philosophyjournal@vassar.edu.</p>\n<p><strong>Submission Guidelines:</strong></p>\n<p><strong>Format:</strong> 12 point Times New Roman font\, 5000 word maximum for</p>\n<p>the Paper\, 100 word maximum for the Abstract. There is no minimum</p>\n<p>word count\, provided that the topic of the paper is suitably addressed.</p>\n<p>Papers should not include your name or other identifying information.</p>\n<p>Please provide your paper title\, name\, email\, and major in a separate</p>\n<p>attachment.</p>\n<p><strong>Citation Format:</strong> Chicago Citation Style. 500-word maximum.</p>\n<p><strong>Topic:</strong> The theme for our upcoming issue is &ldquo\;Borders&rdquo\; Any</p>\n<p>philosophical treatment of this theme is welcome.</p>\n<p><strong>Deadline:</strong> All materials must be submitted via email</p>\n<p>to philosophyjournal@vassar.edu no later than October 20\, 2017.</p>\n<p><strong>Originality:</strong> We accept only original work. Do not submit</p>\n<p>already published material. If you have submitted or plan on</p>\n<p>submitting your paper to publications other than The Vassar</p>\n<p>College Journal of Philosophy\, please\, disclose to us that this is the case.</p>\n<p>We cannot accept submissions failing to meet these guidelines.</p>
