DESCRIPTION:<p>APA Committee on Philosophy and Computers Session on New Technologies in Online Teaching of Philosophy</p>\n<p>On behalf of the APA Committee on Philosophy and Computers\, I am organizing a session on the use of new technologies in online philosophy teaching\, including both fully online and hybrid online courses.</p>\n<p>Online teaching and distance education generally have existed for decades. Given recent rapid advances in technology\, new resources are available for online teaching. We are looking for panelists to discuss their use of technology in teaching philosophy. Possible topics include: use of videoconferencing and recorded videos\; social media\; gaming\; virtual and augmented reality\; podcasts\; and mobile computing.</p>\n<p>We are primarily interested in sessions that will offer practical advice on teaching.</p>\n<p>Please submit a 300-word abstract on your session as well as a C.V. to Fritz McDonald at fritzjmcdonald@oakland.edu. Accepted speakers will be notified by October 10th. The session will take place at the Pacific APA in San Diego\, California\, taking place March 28th through April 1st. (Session time and date to be announced upon APA approval).</p>
