\nThis conference commemorates the 200th \;anniversary of the first publication of Hegel&rsquo\;s \;Encyclopedia of the Philosophical Sciences in Outline. It is set in historic Heidelberg\, the site of the first publication of the \;Encyclopedia \;in 1817. It will examine how well the \;Encyclopedia \;has withstood its many criticisms and it will investigate the philosophical reasons for its continuing relevance. This will help assess the likelihood of a contemporary continuation of Hegel&rsquo\;s philosophical project. The conference will bring together an international group of Hegel experts\, whose presentations will examine the structure and plausibility of the \;Encyclopedia&rsquo\;s systematic philosophical form. \;One of the conference&rsquo\;s goals will be to shine light on the central and fundamental status of the \;Encyclopedia \;within Hegel&rsquo\;s oeuvre and to gauge its ability to render intelligible the systematic and organic nature of all aspects of idealist philosophical thought. \;

\nVor genau 200 Jahren wurde von G.W.F. Hegel an der Ruprecht-Karls-Universitä\;t Heidelberg der wohl ehrgeizigste Versuch einer philosophischen Systembildung geleistet\, den die Philosophie der Moderne gesehen hat. Er verö\;ffentlichte seine \;Enzyklopä\;die der Philosophischen Wissenschaften \;und legte damit einen philosophischen Entwurf vor\, der das Projekt des &bdquo\;deutschen Idealismus&ldquo\;\, das mit Fichtes Kant-Rezeption seinen Anfang genommen hatte\, zu seinem Abschluss fü\;hren sollte. Die in seinen drei Teilen (Logik/Metaphysik\, Naturphilosophie und Geistphilosophie) entfaltete Weite und Tiefe des philosophischen Denkens ist Forschern bis zum heutigen Tag ein scheinbar unerschö\;pfliches Fü\;llhorn der Inspiration. Trotz der einheitlichen Systematizitä\;t der hegelschen Konzeption kommt es jedoch eigentü\;mlicher Weise oft zu einer selektiven Wahrnehmung der Teile des Gesamtwerks. Dies hat vor allem fü\;r die Enzyklopä\;die negative Konsequenzen. Oft wird sie als bloß\;es Hilfsmittel verwendet\, um andere ausfü\;hrlichere und detailreichere Texte\, wie beispielsweise die \;Wissenschaft der Logik \;oder die \;Grundlinien der Philosophie des Rechts \;zu interpretieren. Anstatt diese Texte in ihrer systematischen Rolle begreifbar zu machen\, wird die Enzyklopä\;die somit zu einer steinbruchartigen Ergä\;nzungsquelle der Werke\, welche aus hegelscher Sicht nur als Teile des enzyklopä\;dischen Systems zu verstehen sind. Dieser Tendenz soll die Tagung entgegenwirken\, indem sie den hegelschen Anspruch des organischen Zusammenhangs des philosophischen Wissens in den Vordergrund rü\;ckt. \;
