DESCRIPTION:<p>Rudolf Carnap (1891&ndash\;1970) and W. V. Quine (1908&ndash\;2000) are towering figures of twentieth century philosophy\, now often remembered most for their famed debate over the analytic/synthetic distinction.&nbsp\; Increasingly though\, some scholars have been drawing more attention towards their shared philosophical influences and assumptions\, for example\, that both cite Russell as a central influence on their early work and that both espouse a version of scientific philosophy.&nbsp\; This conference will emphasize this approach to interpreting them.&nbsp\; It aims at a better understanding of their philosophical relationship to each other as well as to the analytic tradition as a whole.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>If you would like to attend\, please contact Sean Morris at MSU Denver.</p>\n
