DESCRIPTION:<p>Both Habermas and Taylor\, each in their own way\, seek to promote an inclusive and diverse public sphere. In this paper I explore the commonalities and differences in their proposed models in order to draw some tentative conclusions about how to best accommodate religious and other diverse voices in the public sphere. I identify three aspects of the public sphere where these issues are particularly pertinent. These are: (1) the resolution of political disputes\, (2) the foundation of constitutional principles\, and (3) the maintenance of a neutral state.
