DESCRIPTION:<p>The Minorities and Philosophy (MAP) chapters of Columbia\, The New School\, NYU\, Rutgers\, and The Graduate Center\, CUNY\, invite submissions to NY-MAPWorks\, a spring 2018 workshop series that will feature the work of graduate students and postdoctoral fellows from groups underrepresented in academic philosophy.</p>\n<p>The Format:</p>\n<p>The series will alternate locations in New York City (see below for full list of dates and locations). Each workshop will take place from 7 to 9:30 p.m. and consist of two talks\, one by a presenter from one of the organizing institutions\, and one by a presenter from an external institution. Each presenter will have a 50-minute session consisting of a 25-30 minute talk and a 20-25 minute Q&amp\;A. The workshop will conclude with a reception.</p>\n<p>Dates and Locations*:</p>\n<p>February 20 (The New School)</p>\n<p>March 6 (The Graduate Center\, CUNY)</p>\n<p>April 17 (Columbia)</p>\n<p>May 8 (NYU)</p>\n<p>*Exact building/room locations will be updated on this page no later than two weeks in advance of each workshop.</p>\n<p>Submission Guidelines:</p>\n<p>To apply\, please compete the following by December 20\, 2017:</p>\n<p>1) Send an extended abstract of ~1\,000 words (.pdf or .docx)\, prepared for blind review (please use the title of your abstract as the pdf/docx file name)\, suitable for a 25-30 minute presentation to a general philosophical audience to nymapshop@gmail.com.</p>\n<p>2) Provide your contact information by completing <a href="https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdD_lFuy5UAIT7bihN0kFbxaK_m0Nc_NQzVYD6GBXg2NGKePw/viewform">this google form</a>.</p>\n<p>Who Can Apply:</p>\n<p>Applications will only be accepted from individuals from groups underrepresented in the philosophy discipline\, including individuals underrepresented on the basis of gender\, race\, sexual orientation\, class\, and disability.</p>\n<p>Travel and Housing:</p>\n<p>At this moment\, we can guarantee a $200 subsidy for travel costs.
