DESCRIPTION:<p>CALL FOR PAPERS<br><br>The 2nd Context\, Cognition and Communication Conference<br>June 16-19\, 2018\, Warsaw<br><br>Post-conference workshop: June 20<br><br>Deadline for submissions: 11th of February 2018 (extended)<br><br>The theme of the second CCC conference is: &ldquo\;Contexts\, Concepts\, Objects&rdquo\;. We invite papers falling in the areas of philosophy of language\, philosophy of action\, philosophy of mind\, epistemology\, natural language semantics\, pragmatics\, cognitive science\, theoretical linguistics\, semiotics\, formal philosophy and philosophical logic.<br><br>The purpose of the conference is to provide a platform for philosophers\,&nbsp\; linguists and cognitive scientists for discussing issues connected with&nbsp\; the phenomenon of context dependence\, the theory of concepts\, the theory of abstract objects as well as the connections between the three areas. We especially encourage submissions addressing foundational philosophical issues.<br><br>The topics may include\, but are not limited to:<br><br>&nbsp\;&nbsp\; - issues of formal representations of context and conversational dynamics\,<br><br>&nbsp\;&nbsp\; - topics in the logic and semantics of indexicals and demonstratives\,<br><br>-&nbsp\; motivations for classical and non-classical approaches to mental and linguistic contents\,<br><br>&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\; - the impact of contexts on propositional attitude attributions\,<br><br>&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\; - the nature of context effects in cognition and language processing\,<br><br>- theories of concepts\,<br><br>- theories of abstract objects and abstract concepts\,<br><br>- abstraction in language and thought\,<br><br>- the theory of conceptual spaces.<br><br><br>The following scholars have accepted our invitation to address the conference as plenary speakers:<br><br><br>Robyn Carston (University College London)<br><br>Peter G&auml\;rdenfors (University of Lund)<br><br>Michael Glanzberg (Northwestern University)<br><br>Edward Zalta (Stanford University)<br><br><br>The conference will take place on June 16-19\, 2018\, and will be hosted by the Institute of Philosophy\, University of Warsaw. On the 20th of June 2018 a special post-conference workshop devoted to the theory of abstract objects will be held.<br><br>We invite submissions for 45 minute talks and/or for the poster session (the authors of the submissions are kindly asked to indicate if they apply for: (i) the regular session only\, (ii) the poster session only\, or (iii) either). A one-page abstract of maximum 500 words should be sent by email (to: <a target="_blank">ccc@obf.edu.pl</a>) by the 11th of February 2018.
