DESCRIPTION:Workshop Announcement\n<br>\nThe inaugural Essen Metaethics Workshop (MetaEssen) will be held at the Department of Philosophy\, University of Duisburg-Essen\, on the&nbsp\;19th of January\, 2018&nbsp\;(Room T03 R04 C09).<br>\n<br>\nOur goal with MetaEssen is to provide a biannual forum for philosophers\, especially more junior philosophers in or around Europe\, to share new work in a congenial environment on a topic of recent interest concerning the nature of ethics\, understood broadly to include familiar metaethical questions on the metaphysics\, epistemology\, semantics\, and&nbsp\;psychology&nbsp\;of normativity\, but also less familiar questions where the boundaries between metaethics and normative ethics might be less sharp. The format will involve extensive discussion of pre-read papers.<br>\n<br>\nThe topic of MetaEssen I is &ldquo\;Conceptual Engineering in Metaethics.&rdquo\;&nbsp\;\n<br>Programme:\n<br>\n10-12: Knut Olav Skarsaune (Oslo)\, &rdquo\;Metaethics as Conceptual Engineering"\n<br>\n12-14: Lunch<br>\n<br>\n14-16: Matti Eklund (Uppsala)\, &ldquo\;Normativity and Conceptual Engineering"\n<br>\nThe workshop is organized by Nicholas Laskowski and Neil Roughley.
