DESCRIPTION:On&nbsp\;Tuesday 12 Dec&nbsp\;from&nbsp\;3:30-5pm&nbsp\;the ACU's Institute for Religion and Critical Inquiry will host a seminar on hope and marginalization.\n&nbsp\;\nLinn&nbsp\;Tonstad&nbsp\;(Yale)\,&nbsp\;Vincent&nbsp\;Lloyd&nbsp\;(Villanova)\, and David Newheiser (ACU) are writing a co-authored conversation book that responds to the critique of hope in Black\, queer\, and continental thought. On the one hand\, there is reason to worry that hope distracts from addressing the challenges faced by marginalized communities. On the other hand\, although Christian reflection on hope is not always attuned to this danger\, it offers resources that suggest a compelling response. In the book\, we&nbsp\;draw upon our shared background in the study of religion to explore whether and how hope can combat marginalization.\n&nbsp\;\nOn the 12th the three co-authors will speak about the project for around 10 minutes each\, after which there will be ample time for open discussion.
