DESCRIPTION:<p>Daniel Murfet (Melbourne) will present "Algebra and Artificial Intelligence" at 11 on 4 May in Old Quad G10.</p>\nAbstract: I will give a non-technical survey of the connections between algebra (broadly interpreted) and automated or mechanistic reasoning\, from Leibniz through to recent work on &ldquo\;neurosymbolic program synthesis&rdquo\; at research labs in Google\, Facebook and elsewhere. The aim is to provide some context in which to understand the developing role of logic in an age of artificial intelligence.\n&nbsp\;
