DESCRIPTION:<p>The aim of this conference is to foster greater dialogue concerning \nrefugees and asylum seekers in Australia. Papers may cover a wide range \nof topics\, including law and policy\, history\, social justice and human \nrights\, questions of Diaspora and national identity\, mental health\, \nliterature and aesthetics\, and refugee advocacy. This will be a unique \nopportunity to enhance academic cooperation for the study of refugee and\n asylum seeker issues.<br> <br> The conference will be held in conjunction with an exhibition of \noriginal artworks by asylum seekers from detention. Proceedings will \nconclude with a concert of performances by Iranian\, Turkish\, Afghan and \nAustralian musicians. Presenters have the opportunity to publish in an \nupcoming special issue of Literature and Aesthetics\, dedicated to \nrefugee themes.<br> <br> Attendance fee: $50 for non-presenters\, which includes lunch\, tea\, coffee\, refreshments and evening concert.<br> <br> Concert only fee: $25.<br> All profits go to refugee support activities conducted by The Refugee Art Project.<br> <br> Abstracts for presentations at the conference are due by 18 November 2011.<br> <br> Please send abstracts or queries to: <a href="mailto:omid_tofighian@yahoo.com">omid_tofighian@yahoo.com</a></p>
