DESCRIPTION:<p><strong>Call for Contributions XXVII SIUCC<br></strong></p>\n<p><strong>Paper submission deadline</strong>: May 15th\, 2018.</p>\n<p>The <strong>Spanish Society for Analytic Philosophy</strong> (SEFA) invites submissions for the <strong>XXVIIth</strong> edition of the <strong>SIUCC</strong> to be held in Vitoria-Gasteiz\, capital of the Basque Country\, in September 26‐28\, 2018\, which is focused on the work of the invited guest\, Elisabeth Camp.</p>\n<p><strong>Elisabeth Camp</strong> is Associate Professor of Philosophy at Rutgers.&nbsp\; She obtained her PhD from the University of California\, Berkeley\, did a post-doc at the Harvard Society of Fellows\, and taught at the University of Pennsylvania before coming to Rutgers in 2013.&nbsp\; Her research focuses on thoughts and utterances that don&rsquo\;t fit within the standard philosophical model of the human mind as a propositional operator. In the realm of communication\, this includes phenomena like metaphor\, sarcasm\, and slurs.&nbsp\; In the realm of minds\, it extends to maps\, non-human animal cognition\, imagination\, and emotion.&nbsp\; Recent publications include &ldquo\;Why Metaphors Make Good Insults: Perspectives\, Presupposition\, and Pragmatics&rdquo\; <em>Philosophical Studies</em>\, 2017)\, &ldquo\;Conventions&rsquo\; Revenge: Davidson\, Derangement\, and Dormativity&rdquo\; (<em>Inquiry</em>\, 2016)\, and &ldquo\;Wordsworth&rsquo\;s Prelude\, Poetic Autobiography\, and Narrative Constructions of the Self&rdquo\; (Nonsite.org\, 2011).</p>\n<p>The <strong>SIUCC</strong> (Seminario Interuniversitario de Ciencia Cognitiva/Inter‐University Workshop on Philosophy and Cognitive Science) annual conferences are three‐day workshops organized under the auspices of the SEFA (<a  target="_blank"  data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?hl=ca&amp\;q=http://www.sefaweb.es&amp\;source=gmail&amp\;ust=1519494198167000&amp\;usg=AFQjCNESYfn1Ev8YX_3JCsjMt11ZslSPtQ">www.sefaweb.es</a>) since the creation of the society in 1994. Invited speakers are asked to present three papers\, which can be new material or a revision of former work. The seminar intends to trigger discussion and debate through the presentation of 9‐12 contributions related to any of the philosophical topics of the invited speakers&rsquo\; work.</p>\n<p>Camp's current work engages with formats of thought and representation (language\, maps\, diagrams\, pictures)\; manipulative speech (insinuation\, jokes\, metaphor)\; and the epistemic uses of perspectival frames in science and other domains of inquiry.</p>\n<p>Recent workshops and keynote speakers have been: XXVI\, Madrid: David Velleman\; XXV\, Valencia: Tim Williamson\; XXIV\, Valladolid: Jason Stanley\; XXIII\, Sevilla: Jennifer Hornsby\; XXII\, San Sebasti&aacute\;n: Jesse Prinz\; XXI\, Granada: Jaakko Hintikka\; XX\, Barcelona: Crispin Wright\; XIX\, Zaragoza: Ernest Sosa\; XVIII\, Madrid: John Perry\; XVII\, Palma de Mallorca\, 2007: Peter Carruthers.</p>\n<p><strong>ORGANIZING COMMITTEE</strong>: Agust&iacute\;n Vicente\, Marta Jorba\, Marina Ortega &amp\; Adri&aacute\;n Sampedro (University of the Basque Country).</p>\n<p><strong>CALL FOR CONTRIBUTIONS</strong>: The Organizing Committee invites contributions on topics related to Prof. Camp&rsquo\;s work.
