DESCRIPTION:<p>The second Annual Royal Institute\nof Philosophy Graduate Conference in Philosophy will be held at the University\nof the West of England\, Bristol. The theme for this year is the Self.</p>\n<p>The Self is at once both evident\nand alien\; intimate and inexplicit. It seems to be something with which we are\nintimately acquainted&mdash\;more than this\, it is thought to be the very essence of\nwhat we are&mdash\;but yet remains elusive. It is like Augustine&rsquo\;s comment on the\nnotion of time: if no one asks me\, then I know what it is. If I wish to explain\nit\, I do not know.</p>\n<p>We invite submissions from graduate\nstudents from any philosophical perspective. Topics may include\, but are not\nlimited to\, the following:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>The\nontological status of the Self</li>\n<li>Narrative\nidentity theories</li>\n<li>Phenomenology\nof the Self</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Please send abstracts of 300-500 words to the organizer\,\nZachariah Evans\, at the following email address: <a target="_blank">Zachariah.Evans@uwe.ac.uk</a></p>\n<p>The deadline for submissions is January 5th 2012.<strong></strong></p>
