DESCRIPTION:<p><strong><u>New deadline for the submission of abstracts for contributed papers and symposia: June 1</u>st\, 2018.</strong></p>\n<p>The&nbsp\;<em>Spanish Society of</em>&nbsp\;<em>Logic\, Methodology&nbsp\;and&nbsp\;Philosophy of Science</em>&nbsp\;(SLMFCE) and the&nbsp\;<em>Facultad de Filosof&iacute\;a UNED</em>&nbsp\;organize the IX conference of the society to be held in Madrid from 13th&nbsp\;to 16th&nbsp\;November 2018.</p>\n<p>The conference will host the third edition of the&nbsp\;<em>Lullius Lectures</em>\, which will be in charge of Prof.&nbsp\;Nancy Cartwright&nbsp\;(Professor of Philosophy at Durham University and a Distinguished Professor at the University of California\, San Diego (UCSD)) (http://www.profnancycartwright.com/).&nbsp\;</p>\n\n<p>General information:</p>\n\n<p>Date:&nbsp\;13-16 November 2018</p>\n<p>Venue:&nbsp\;Facultad de Filosof&iacute\;a. Edificio de Humanidades UNED</p>\n<p>&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;Paseo Senda del Rey\, 7</p>\n<p>&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\;&nbsp\; 28040 Madrid</p>\n<p>Contributed&nbsp\;papers&nbsp\;and symposia:</p>\n<p>We invite submissions for both contributed&nbsp\;papers&nbsp\;and proposals for symposia (in English or Spanish) to the following sections:</p>\n<p>A Logic\, History&nbsp\;and&nbsp\;Philosophy of Logic\, and Argumentation</p>\n<p>B Philosophy of Language</p>\n<p>C Philosophy of Mind and Epistemology</p>\n<p>D Philosophy and Methodology of Science</p>\n<p>E History of Science</p>\n<p>F Science\, Technology&nbsp\;and&nbsp\;Society</p>\n<p><strong><u>Extended Deadline for the submission of abstracts for contributed&nbsp\;papers</u>&nbsp\;and symposia: June 1st\, 2018.</strong></p>\n<p>Submissions&nbsp\;of contributed&nbsp\;papers&nbsp\;should have no more than 1000 words and should be prepared for blind refereeing. A short abstract up to 200 words must be introduced in the EasyChair system.</p>\n<p>Submissions for symposia should include a brief abstract for each participant&rsquo\;s talk (without author names\, max. 1000 words) and justification of its interest (max. 500 words). Also\, a short abstract of the symposia (max. 200 words) must be introduced in the EasyChair system.</p>\n\n<p>The steering committee of the society will organize a symposium on Nancy Cartwright&rsquo\;s work.&nbsp\;</p>\n\n<p>If the submission is intended to be for the symposium on Nancy Cartwright\, this should be indicated at the moment of submitting the paper.</p>\n<p>The allocated time for delivering contributed&nbsp\;papers&nbsp\;at the conference will be 30 minutes\, discussion included. The allocated time for symposia at the conference will be 2 hours with at most 5&nbsp\;participants.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p><strong>Abstracts for contributed&nbsp\;papers&nbsp\;and symposia are to be submitted electronically at&nbsp\;https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=9slmfce</strong></p>\n<p>Authors will be informed about the acceptance of submissions before the end of July 2018.</p>\n<p>Deadline for the submission of the final version of accepted abstracts (in order to be published in the electronic proceedings): 30 September 2018. The final version should be sent in Word or LaTeX format\, along with a PDF file.</p>\n<p>In order to promote the work of young researchers\, the SLFMCE will provide financial support for the two best contributions submitted by young researchers. Candidates must fulfill the conditions listed below:&nbsp\;<br><br></p>\n<p>(a) applicants must be master students or&nbsp\;PhD&nbsp\;students\, or to have a doctoral dissertation read after the May 15th\, 2012.&nbsp\;<br>(b) applicants must be members of the&nbsp\;SLMFCE&nbsp\;when the contribution is submitted.<br>(c) applicants must get the highest rank for their submitted contributions at the blind process of refereeing.<br>(d) applicants must not have been previously awarded&nbsp\;with&nbsp\;this grant.&nbsp\;&nbsp\;<br><br></p>\n<p>Funds are intended to cover the registration fee\, travel and accommodation expenses (maximum 500&euro\; for each winner of the prize). TheSLMFCE&nbsp\;will provide a certificate to the winners of the grant.</p>\n<p>In the event more than two communication proposals are qualified as excellent\, the Steering Committee will decide the grant recipients in accordance with the quality of their contributions.</p>\n<p>The young researchers who want to apply to the grant must send an e-mail\, once the submission has been uploaded\, to&nbsp\;9slmfce@gmail.com&nbsp\;with their personal data and the necessary documents certifying that they fulfill the conditions above.</p>\n<p><strong>Information regarding registration\, program\, etc. will be regularly updated on the website&nbsp\;http://www.solofici.org/congreso2018/</strong></p>\n<p>For more information:&nbsp\;9slmfce@gmail.com</p>
