DESCRIPTION:<p>The 2012 conference is the second in a series of three conferences on the theological virtues. &nbsp\;We invite papers examining the meaning\, history\, and practical implications of the idea of hope as a virtue. &nbsp\;We encourage submissions from a variety of disciplinary perspectives.<br><br>Presentations may include the following topics:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>The role of hope in the moral life</li>\n<li>The psychology of hope</li>\n<li>Hope in relationship to the other virtues</li>\n<li>Hope in a political context</li>\n<li>Cultural perspectives on hope and despair</li>\n<li>Hope and its counterfeits: wishful thinking\, optimism\, na?vet&eacute\;</li>\n<li>Forgiveness\, reconciliation\, and starting over</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br>Presentation proposals should be no more than two pages in length and include name\, affiliation\, address\, and e-mail address. &nbsp\;Presentations will be limited to twenty minutes with ample time provided for discussion. &nbsp\;Proposals for panel discussions and "works in progress" are encouraged. &nbsp\;Deadline for submissions is January 10\, 2012.<br><br>Proposals should be sent to ethics@viterbo.edu. &nbsp\;Please write "Ethics Conference Proposal" in the subject line. &nbsp\;Proposals may also be sent to Dr. Richard Kyte\, D.
