DESCRIPTION:<p>CALL FOR PAPERS</p>\n<p>HOUSTON BAPTIST UNIVERSITY</p>\n<p>SECOND ANNUAL PHILOSOPHY\nCONFERENCE</p>\n<p>DIVINE AND HUMAN ACTION: AGENCY\nAND ACTION IN PHILOSOPHY AND THEOLOGY</p>\n<p>MARCH 30-31\, 2012</p>\n<p>Keynote Speaker: William\nAbraham (Southern Methodist University)</p>\n<p>The Philosophy\nDepartment at HBU invites papers addressing the topics of agency and action in\nphilosophy and theology.&nbsp\; We welcome\npapers on divine agency\, miracles\, foreknowledge\, free will\, agent causation\,\nelection\, and fatalism.&nbsp\; In addition\, we\nwill happily consider papers on any philosophical topic.&nbsp\; The Philosophy Department at HBU encourages\npapers from both analytic and continental traditions.</p>\n<p>To submit a paper\,\nplease send an abstract of around 300 words to Dr. Jeff Green at <strong>jgreen@hbu.edu</strong>.&nbsp\; Abstracts\nshould be in an electronic format and prepared for blind review.&nbsp\; Participants will have 30 minutes to present\ntheir papers.</p>\n<p>The deadline for\nsubmission is <strong>January 31</strong>\, with notification of\nacceptance by February 14.</p>\n<p>In an effort to\nsupport excellence in undergraduate philosophy education\, some sessions have\nbeen reserved for undergraduate paper submissions.&nbsp\; Undergraduate students are encouraged to\napply by sending a completed paper by <strong>January 31</strong> to <strong>jgreen@hbu.edu</strong>.&nbsp\; We\nare happy to announce that a stipend of <strong>$250</strong> will be\navailable for the best undergraduate paper submitted.&nbsp\; Please indicate in your submission that you\nwould like to be considered for this award.&nbsp\; HBU students are not eligible for this award.</p>\n<p>William J. Abraham\,\nAlbert Cook Outler Professor of Wesley Studies at SMU\, will be the keynote\nspeaker.&nbsp\; His first address\, titled &ldquo\;Divine\nand Human Action in Conversion\,&rdquo\; will be on Friday\, March 30 at 7:00 pm.&nbsp\; The second\, titled &ldquo\;God as Agent\,&rdquo\; will be on\nSaturday\, March 31 at 11:30 am.&nbsp\; Both\ntalks will be in Belin Chapel on the campus of Houston Baptist University.</p>\n<p>For further\ninformation on the conference and registration\, see <a href="http://www.hbu.edu/philosophyconference">www.hbu.edu/philosophyconference</a></p>
