Call for Papers
\n\nWe are pleased to announce the Call for Papers for the volume &ldquo\;Mathematics\, Logic and Language in Schopenhauer&rdquo\; which will be published in the series Studies in Universal Logic (Springer)
\nThe deadline for submission has been extended to: August 31\, 2018.
\n\nThe volume is motivated by the growing interest in Arthur Schopenhauer&rsquo\;s logic\, mathematics and philosophy of language. Until a few years ago\, it was hardly known that Schopenhauer was intensively concerned with mathematical evidence\, logic diagrams\, and problems of semantics. Both the focus on conceptual theories\, hermeneutics\, and Euler diagrams in Schopenhauer&rsquo\;s books and lectures (The Fourfold Root of the Principle of Sufficient Reason\, The World as Will and Representation\, Philosophische Vorlesungen)\, as well as their link with modern research areas such as &ldquo\;proof without words movement&rdquo\; and diagrammatic reasoning have shown the currency of Schopenhauer&rsquo\;s ideas in recent years. Particularly his criticism of Euclid&rsquo\;s &ldquo\;mouse-trap proofs&rdquo\;\, his question about the justification of deductive reasoning\, as well as Schopenhauer&rsquo\;s relation to Wittgenstein&rsquo\;s theories of meaning are controversial in current research.
