DESCRIPTION:
Leading international scholars will explore the connections and tensions between two seemingly antithetical philosophical standpoints: naturalism and transcendental philosophy. The
former is often described as the view that only nature\, i.e.\, the subject matter of natural science exists and/or that the
method of natural science is the only acceptable method of rational inquiry. Transcendental philosophers\, on the
contrary\, maintain that not all that there is in the world can be explained in naturalistic terms\, in particular\, that
some key aspects of cognition and consciousness are presupposed\, rather than explained by natural science. Recently\, however\, the gap between these two standpoints has been reconsidered and the possibility or impossibility to integrate naturalistic and transcendental perspectives is a central fixture of contemporary philosophy.

Information: parma.transcendental@gmail.com
